Blended scotch gets pooh-poohed by some whisky drinkers as inferior to single malt, but the No.-2 whisky in the 2019 Top 20 should make those naysayers take a second sip. A departure from the core Dewar’s lineup, this whisky comes from the hands of master blender Stephanie Macleod; she blended aged malt and grain whiskies separately, then married them together, and finished that final blend in an oloroso sherry cask. Throw in an affordable price and novel half-size bottle, and Dewar’s 21 year old Double Double becomes an intriguing, exciting prospect for anyone looking to expand into blends.
Nicole Austin shares details on George Dickel 11 year old Bottled in Bond, the follow-up to our 2019 Whisky of the Year.
