Snow Bunny [Cocktail Recipe]

Summer-Jane Bell, beverage director at Hello Stranger in Oakland, California, combines the nostalgic flavor of mint chocolate candy with a classic julep in her Snow Bunny. “The menthol in Fernet brings out the mint flavor, and switching it up in a hot chocolate format makes it easy to prepare and fun to drink,” she says. For the best flavor, use a high-quality hot cocoa mix—no Swiss Miss here.

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 oz. prepared high-quality hot cocoa mix
  • 1½ oz. bourbon
  • ¼ oz. Fernet Branca
  • Preferred sweetener, to taste (optional)
  • Garnish: fresh mint sprigs, powdered sugar

DIRECTIONS

Prepare hot cocoa in a mug, following package instructions. Add bourbon, Fernet Branca, and sweetener to taste, if desired. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs and dust with powdered sugar.
