Created by Crystal Pavlas, bar manager at Bywater American Bistro in New Orleans, this cocktail takes cues from a few breakfast items.
“This drink is bitter with a touch of espresso, then it’s bright—just the way I wake up in the morning,” Pavlas says.
- 1¼ oz. Jameson Caskmates IPA (or other blended Irish whiskey)
- ¼ oz. Fernet Branca amaro
- ¼ oz. Branca Menta amaro
- ¼ oz. Caffè Borghetti Espresso liqueur
- Garnish: grapefruit peel
Stir all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice until chilled. Strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with grapefruit peel.
